Iona College's 66th Annual Commencement at Madison Square Garden
On Sunday, May 16, Iona held its annual commencement ceremony at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, NYC. Abigail E. Disney, philanthropist and filmmaker, was the keynote speaker, as well as one of three honorary doctoral degree recipients. Iona conferred bachelor's and master's degrees to 910 students.
Dr. Disney was conferred a Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters along withJohn J. Sweeney, an Iona alumnus (class of 1955) and former president of the American Fed Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and to Bishop Dennis J. Sullivan, vicar general of the Archdiocese of New York.
