Robert Greifeld ’79, president and CEO of Nasdaq, is profiled in the current issue
of Forbes.

Robert Greifeld graduated from Iona after earning a bachelor’s degree in English. After graduating, he began working in sales for the Burroughs Corporation, where he stayed for 12 years. Then, after eight years as president and COO of Automated Securities Clearance, Inc. (ASC), he joined SunGard Data Systems Inc., working his way up to executive vice president.

In 1986 he earned an MBA from the Stern School of Business at NYU. His thesis, fittingly, was on the operation of Nasdaq, the world’s first – and now largest- electronic stock market.

In 2004, Greifeld was honored with the Iona College Alumni Association’s Brother Arthur A. Loftus Award for Outstanding Achievement during Reunion Weekend festivities.  His wife, Julia Considine Greifeld ’79, is a member of the College’s Board of Trustees.
