 "From Campus to Corporate" One Day workshop designed
to increase the probability
for success in the hidden job market.
Iona College has recently become a partner school affiliated with The Response Companies to offer our alumni professional job search and career building assistance. Annette McLaughlin,Vice President Talent, The Response Companies, was the keynote speaker at this year's MBA chapter event in February. According to her presentation, in today's hidden job market,
5% of jobs are acquired through job boards, 5% are from recruiters and 90% are from networking.
Aware that in this
turbulent time members of our Iona Community may be in need of career
assistance, we encourage you to join us for a unique one day workshop offered by Career Advisory Services, a division on The Response Companies, that is designed to increase the probability
for success in the hidden job market. These
services provide individuals with a broader understanding of the market
conditions, as well as how to position his/her skill sets for success.

Tactics for Finding a Job in a Difficult Market" Today’s
job search is very different than in the past. If you are interested in learning how and where to spend
your time, energy and effort this is a great introduction. This is an overview
of the tools and resources that are most effective in a hidden job market. Breakout Session: Choose one from the list below: Start Where You: Learn
where to begin. Determine your
strengths and weaknesses. What do people with your major do for a living? Start
the job search process.
Defining "Brand You”: Who are you and
what competitive advantages do you bring to the organization? What are you marketing? Create a powerful list of
accomplishments to supplement your resume and cover letter.
Marketing Campaign
: Learn to write a powerful introduction letter to get attention. Find out what
tools and resources are available to jump start your job search. Enhance your networking skills.
General Session II: Understanding the Hiring Process Are
you confused about the hiring process and what employers want in new
employees? Are you perfect for the
job postings and the phone never rings?
Have you interviewed with an employer and never gotten a call back? Are you always the runner up? Understanding how and why employers
hire people can help you position yourself successfully.
Learn from the
Recruiters: Recruiter Panel Learn the inside scoop from the recruiters. Be prepared to ask the questions you
really want to know from the other side of the desk. We will have a panel of
experienced recruiters from several different industries to answer the
questions you really want to know in order to Ace the Interview.
What Next? Session: Learn new ideas to re-energize yourself and your job
search. This is an interactive
workshop to help you move to the next step. In this workshop you will walk away with an action plan to
get you moving to the next level.
